Grade: B+
Amanda Stenberg stars as Starr Carter, a woman of two worlds, defined by opposite subcultures. She is switching between two vastly different worlds: the poor, mostly black, neighborhood where she lives and the rich, mostly white, prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer.
Pressures stems from all sides and corners of the community, forcing Starr to make fateful decisions that are moral, ethical, and practical. In the process she will find her true voice and stand up for what she believes is right.
