Golden Globes: Pixar’s ‘Soul’ Wins Best Animation–Is Kemp Powers One of the Winners?
The last time a best animated film Golden Globe winner had a co-director, that person — Adrian Molina, for Pixar’s Coco — was not considered a nominee or winner, even though the rules were worded exactly the same as they are this year: “The best motion picture award for the animated category is given to the accredited director(s) and the individual producer(s) accredited by the Producers Guild of America for that motion picture.”
With this award, Pixar extended its record of animated feature category wins to nine — far more than any other studio. Disney Animation follows with two wins. (The category was awarded for the first time in 2007, when Cars won).
Docter becomes the first director to win the category three times; he was previously recognized for Up and Inside Out.
