Ryuichi Sakamoto: Coda: Stephen Nomura Schible’s Docu of Legendary Japanese Composer

The film streaming platform MUBI has acquired its first non-fiction theatrical acquisition, Stephen Nomura Schibles Ryuichi Sakamoto: Coda, an intimate documentary about the renowned Japanese composer and how the evolution of his music coincided with his life journeys.

The film, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival, will make its North American bow at the Tribeca Film Fest next month. MUBI has acquired all North American rights to Ryuichi Sakamoto: Coda, the directorial debut film by Schible, who was the co-producer of Lost in Translation.

MUBI will release the film in theaters in the U.S. later this year, followed by an exclusive streaming premiere on MUBI after the conclusion of the theatrical run.
