Emmy Awards 2020: Nominations on July 28; Show on September 20

The 2020 Emmy Awards are back on track with the nominations announcement airing live on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. PT.

Viewers can catch the announcement on the Emmys’ website and Facebook and YouTube accounts. Leslie Jones will host the virtual reveal of the nominees, where she will be joined by Laverne Cox, Josh Gad, Tatiana Maslany and Television Academy CEO Frank Scherma.

Jones and Co. will reveal the nominees for the Emmys’ top categories including best drama, best comedy and more. After watching the live announcement on Tuesday, head to The Hollywood Reporter’s Emmys page for more content including interviews with nominees, analysis and more.

What the annual celebration of TV excellence may look like as the COVID-19 pandemic continues remains unclear, but ABC entertainment president Karey Burke told THR in June that there are “multiple plans for an in-person ceremony and a virtual ceremony.”

The 72nd annual Primetime Emmy Awards has not shifted from its original date, despite the postponing and delays of other Hollywood events including next year’s Golden Globes ceremony and the 2021 Academy Awards.

Jimmy Kimmel will produce and host the 2020 Emmys, airing September 20 at 5 p.m. PT on ABC.
