According to some sources, the movie will world-premiere at the 2015 Cannes Film Fest, in mid-May.
Starring George Clooney, Britt Robertson and Hugh Laurie, the story follows a teen bursting with scientific curiosity and a former boy-genius inventor who embark on a mission to unearth the secrets of a place somewhere in time and space that exists in their collective memory.
The new trailer explores that world, and it contains enough action sequences to give audiences an idea about the size, scope, and vision of the picture.
Scribe Damon Lindelof (“Lost” and “Prometheus”) wrote the script with Jeff Jensen.
Disney hopes that the project can lead to the studio’s growing list of franchises, which already include the Marvel and “Star Wars” movies.
The film bows on May 22, going up against the Fox and MGM reboot of Spielberg’s 1982 “Poltergeist.”
