Those Happy Years: Coming of Age in 1970s Italy

 Italian (Anni felici)

“Those Happy Years” is Daniele Luchetti’s bittersweet autobiographical account of his childhood as a budding filmmaker growing up in Rome in the 1970s.

The film stars Kim Rossi Stuart and Micaela Ramazotti as unconventional parents caught up in turbulent times. He isgarde artist and she is wrestling with sexual politics as she discovers feminism and free love.

Luchetti, who previously directed the equally impressive “My Brother Is an Only Child,” recreates the atmosphere of urgency and rapid change surrounding the family.

His own coming-of-age is told with humor and poignancy, showing an alert boy, grappling with radical transformations that take place within and without his own family.
