David M. Rosenthal’s neo-noir thriller, Single Shot, starts with a bang, when a single shot aimed at a deer instead hits and kills a young woman.
The hunter, John Moon (Sam Rockwell), watches her die before discovering a box of money near her body. In a desperate panic, he takes the cash. He then hires a low-rent lawyer (William H. Macy) to fight his wife’s (Kelly Reilly) divorce suit, and attempts to cover up the killing.
However, when John discovers that the money belonged to a group of hardened criminals, the hunter becomes the hunted in what becomes a tense cat-and-mouse struggle in the backwoods of West Virginia.
A Sling Shot wolrd-premiered at the 2013 Berlin Film Fest, and received its North American premiere at 2013 Tribeca Film Fest.
