Claude Lanzman’s Shoah: Four Sisters, a French documentary about the Holocaust, premiered at the 2017 New York Film Fest.
It first aired on TV as a four-part series on January 23, 2018.
It is both Claude Lanzman’s final film and a continuation of his magnum opus, Shoah.
It chronicles the lives of four women who escaped the concentration camps and tried to find new life after the Holocaust.
Lanzman traveled around four Eastern European countries and interviewed in great detail four separate women.
The four-and-a-half hour cut of the film debuted in American theaters on November 14, 2018.
It was on France’s shortlist of features to compete in the Best Documentary Oscar category.
Note:
I am grateful to TCM for showing this feature on January 27, 2020, the International Holocaust Memorial Day.
