Seasons in Quincy: Four Portraits of John Berger

Icarus Films presents John Berger and Tilda Swinton in THE SEASONS IN QUINCY, a film by Bartek Dziadosz, Colin MacCabe, Christopher Roth & Tilda Swinton,

The Seasons in Quincy: Four Portraits of John Berger is available on home video DVD and VOD on December 6, 2016.

Prolific artist, philosopher, writer, storyteller and “radical humanist” John Berger is the focus of this vivid cinematic portrait. In 1973, he moved from urban London to the tiny Alpine village of Quincy.

In four seasonal chapters, the film combines ideas and motifs from his work with the texture and history of his mountain home, showing how film can move beyond text, and beyond fine art, to offer a multifaceted and multilayered portrait.

United by their central vision and an original score by Simon Fisher Turner, the four short works that comprise The Seasons in Quincy combine to make a feature film that’s intimate and revealing.  These are more than documentary films, they are exercises in thinking in film, demonstrating the power of the spoken word–and big ideas–in illuminating both the art world and social reality.

The Seasons in Quincy will be released on DVD and available for digital purchase and rental on Amazon, iTunes, Google Play and Vudu. The DVD includes 16-page booklet featuring essays and art by and about John Berger.
