Director John Krokidas (Kill Your Darlings) has set his next project, a Colombian conflict drama Near Extinct Birds.
The film is based on Ben Fountain’s story Near Extinct Birds of the Central Cordillera, which follows a America grad student that is taken captive by Colombian guerrilla soldiers and discovers that the rebel group is funded by the country’s drug trade and the American banking system.
Krokidas will re-write the existing script, written by Mark V. Olsen and Will Scheffer, with his Kill Your Darlings co-writer Austin Bunn.
The director impressed the indie film world with Kill Your Darlings, the beat-generation biographical drama, starring Dane Dehaan and Daniel Radcliffe.
Krokidas will re-team with Dehaan and Radcliffe in the comedy Young Americans, a road trip movie about future Republican party strategists Karl Rove and Lee Atwater, which will also star Amanda Seyfried.
