Chadwick Boseman on Wednesday was posthumously nominated for a Golden Globefor his lead work in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.
The late, beloved actor died during post-production of the film, which is directed by George C. Wolfe and about Ma Rainey, an influential blues singer in the 1920s. Boseman plays Levee Green, a talented trumpet player.
Boseman died Aug. 28, 2020, at the age of 43. His death shocked and devastated fans around the globe.
For his work in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Boseman was nominated for best performance by an actor in a drama.
Although he had been nominated for a slew of awards throughout his carer, Wednesday marked the first time Boseman got a nod for a Golden Globe.
Actors nominated in the same category include Riz Ahmed for Sound of Metal, Anthony Hopkins for The Father, Gary Oldman for Mank and Tahar Rahim for The Mauritanian.
The 78th annual Golden Globe Awards airs Feb. 28.
