Golden Globes 2019: After Parties–InStyle/Warner

The mood would have been better at the 20th annual InStyle/Warner post-Globes bash, had frontrunner (before the show), A Star Is Born, won major awards, such as Actor (Bradley Cooper), Actress (Lady Gaga), not to mention Best Picture.

But it was, as usual, a great party–one of my favorites that I have never missed.

“This is actually my first time, I’m a Golden Globe virgin,” said James Van Der Beek on his way in.  “It was fun to be there with my cast,” added the “Pose” star. “Some of them are first time actors, they crushed it and they deserved to be there. I loved seeing them be recognized, be heard and be seen in all their complexity. That was the most fun for me tonight: To get to watch it through their eyes because I have been to a million award ceremonies.”

“Andy and Sandy were phenomenal,” said Sarah Silverman of the show’s co-hosts after posing for photos with Janelle Monáe. “They couldn’t have been more perfect. I couldn’t get the smile off my face watching them. They walked such a cool line: They were hard, they were beautiful, they were hilarious. Loved it!”

Celeb stylist Rachel Zoe talked about the tight security: “I’ve been part of the InStyle family from the beginning but honestly, the process tonight? At the end of the day, this is something that we always came to just to see friends and hang out for a few hours, then go home to bed. But you know, I have a thing where I don’t do shuttles,” she said, referring to the transportation situation for guests not inside the ceremony. “Once you’re in here, it’s great, but there has to be a better way. I’ve been coming for 10 years, and I’d just walk in the front doors. There were so many road blocks and barricades, but this is the new reality: It’s the state of the world we live in that security around this event has to be what it is, and that’s actually the deeper meaning.”
