Fait Accomplit: Directed by Cinematographer Andrjei Sekula

The attempt to mix a crime thriller and supernatural voodooism does not yield the most exciting results in Andrjei Sekula’s Fait Accomplit, an impressively mounted, extremely well-shot picture that’s bogged by a third-rate script.

Sekula has done marvelous cinematography for Tarantino, but he seems weak in the storytelling department. Convoluted vengeance story, about a criminal who learns the occult powers while in prison and then use them against those who killed his brother, and sleazy, unimpressive acting by thesps like Michael Madsen, Rosanna Arquette and Belthazar Getty, should spell straight-to-video for this stylish but uninvolving B-picture.
