The Cohen Media Group has acquired all North American distribution rights to Lars Kraume’s Adolf Eichmann thriller The Perople Vs. Fritz Bauer.
The announcement was made Saturday at the American Film Market, where Beta One is selling international rights.
The film, which screened at the Toronto Film Fest in the Contemporary World Cinema section, will be released in major U.S. markets in the spring
The distribution agreement was negotiated by Cohen Media’s John Kochman and Beta’s Dirk Schuerhoff.
The film follows West German district attorney Fritz Bauer to prosecute Eichmann, one of the key organizers of the Holocaust, after discovering that Eichmann was hiding in Buenos Aires.
Burghart Klaussner stars as Fritz Bauer. Also in the cast are Ronald Zehrfeld, Sebastian Blomberg and Michael Schenk as Eichmann.
The film is produced by zero one film in co-production with Terz Filmproduktions. It has grossed more than $1.75 million in Germany.
