Cromwell (1970): Oscar-Winning Biopic Starring Richard Harris and Alec Guinness

In Cromwell, Ken Hughes’ historical biopic, Richard Harris plays the titular role and Alec Guinness is King Charles I, two strong men involved in political battle.

The secondary cast includes Robert Morley, Dorothy Tutin, Frank Finlay, and Timothy Dalton (the future James Bond).

The movie was both an artistic and commercial flop, but it nonetheless was nominated for two Oscars and won one.
