Cannes Film Fest 1952: Year 5–Welles’ Othello is Co-Winner of Grand Prize

The 5th Cannes Film Fest was held April 23 to May 10, 1952.

The Grand Prize was shared by two films: Two Cents Worth of Hope by Renato Castellani and Othello by Orson Welles.

The festival opened with An American in Paris, Vincente Minnelli’s 1951 Oscar winning musical, starring Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron.

The jury at this festival was all French, headed by Maurice Genevoix as president.
