Blood Brothers: 2013 Sundance Top Winner

BLOOD BROTHER, the 2013 Sundance Film Fest Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award-winner for best documentary, will be released theatrically this fall by Tugg, Inc.

BLOOD BROTHER will open in New York City at the Village East on October 18 and in Los Angeles at the Laemmle Royal on October 25, and will simultaneously be available to audiences nationwide through Tugg’s unique platform for crowdsourcing events in movie theaters.

Tugg and the BLOOD BROTHER filmmakers collaborate with Sundance Institute Artist Services, a program which offers all Sundance Institute alumni the infrastructure to support funding, distribution and marketing, to help bring the film to a wider audience
This is the first such collaboration between Tugg and Sundance Institute Artist Services.

The unmistakable power of love is celebrated in this story of one man’s decision to move to India and restart his life among the children living at an orphanage for those infected with HIV. Unlike others, Rocky stayed, dedicating himself to their health and well being. Despite challenges and obstacles, his playful spirit and determination prove to be an invaluable resource.

Director Steve Hoover—who is friends with his subject—ventured to India to chronicle Rocky’s newfound life in this beautifully crafted and personal film.

The production company, Animal, and filmmaking team behind BLOOD BROTHER will donate all profits from the film directly to the orphanage and other HIV/AIDS organizations. Additional fundraising opportunities are available using Tugg’s Fundraising Feature, which enables event hosts to support non-profit causes of their choice when screening the film.

“When we saw BLOOD BROTHER, we were immediately moved by the film’s ability to demonstrate the true depth of human compassion,” said Tugg Co-founders Nicolas Gonda and Pablo Gonzalez. “We look forward to collaborating with the BLOOD BROTHER team and Sundance Institute’s Artist Services program to share this incredibly moving and highly acclaimed documentary with audiences nationwide.”
