In Ron Shelton’s fact-inspired satire, Blaze, set in the 1950s, Paul Newman gives a strong performance as the eccentric Louisiana Governor Eral Long, who fell head over heels with the stripper Blaze Starr (played by the charming Lolita Davidovich).
Unfortunately, the tale is only intermittently involving, resulting in a picture that is strangely flat.
