Bite the Bullet (1975): Richard Brooks Oscar Nominated Adventure, Starring Gene Hackman, Candice Bergman, James Coburn, Ben Johnson

Richard Brooks wrote and directed this middling adventure, a cross-country horse race to retrieve some treasure.

The only reason to see the film is the high caliber of its ensemble cast.  Gene Hackman plays an animal-loving solitary, Candice Bergen is a voluptuous prostitute, James Coburn is a her outlaw boyfriend, Ben Johnson a sickly cowboy, Ian Bannen a British sportsman, and Jan-Michael Vincent as vocal youngster.
