Lionsgate’s Angel Has Fallen, the third chapter in the Fallen franchise, stars Gerard Butler, Morgan Freeman and Jada Pinkett Smith.
The movie is expected to have a series-low start, behind 2013’s Olympus Has Fallen ($30 million) and 2016’s London Has Fallen ($21.6 million).
In Angel Has Fallen, Butler returns as Secret Service Agent Mike Banning, who has to clear his named after being framed for an attack on the U.S. president.
After the events in the former picture, Secret Service agent Mike Banning (Butler) finds himself framed for an assassination attempt on President Allan Trumbull (Freeman, reliable).
Pursued by his own agency and the FBI, Banning turns to unlikely allies in a race against time to clear his name and to uncover the real terrorist threat.
The movie is formulaic to a fault, cut from the same rough cloth as its predecessors, only more preposterously plotted and much less engaging.
