Pablo Larraín was born in 1976 in Santiago de Chile. He is a founding partner of the famous Fabula, a pioneering company dedicated to film, television, advertising and production services.
In 2006 he directed his first feature film, Fuga.
In 2008 he directed Tony Manero, which premiered in Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes. Post Mortem, his third feature, premiered in Official Competition at the 2010 Venice International Film Festival. In 2010, Larrain directed Prófugos, the first HBO series produced in Chile, which earned an International Emmy nomination for Best Series. He premiered the second season of Prófugos in 2013.
NO, Larrain’s fourth feature, won Best Film in Directors’ Fortnight at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, and was nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film Academy Award.
In 2014, Larraín directed his first opera for the Teatro Municipal de Santiago – Leoš Janáček’s Katya Kabanova – and made his theatrical directing debut with the play ACCESO, at the Teatro La Memoria.
His fifth feature, The Club, premiered in Official Competition at the Berlin Film Festival, 2015, and won the Silver Bear Special Jury Prize.
Neruda, starring Gael Garcia Bernal, premiered at the 2016 Cannes Film Fest, where it was inexplicably laced in the Directors Fortnight series.
Jackie, his seventh picture starring Natalie Portman, world premiered at the Venice Film Fest and also played at the Toronto Film Fest.
