TV End of Summer 2007: Big Brother and Biggest Loser

September 19, 2007–On the Tuesday before the new season, CBS series “Big Brother” finished strong, while NBC's “Biggest Loser” performed well in its second week. The only premiere on the night, CW's “Beauty and the Geek,” had solid numbers, too.

According to preliminary ratings from Nielsen, “Big Brother” matched or set summer highs across the board, including adults 18-49 (3.3 rating/9 share) and total viewers (8.5 million), as the night's top-rated program in both categories. “Big Brother 8” finished up slightly in 18-49 vs. last year's all-stars edition.

NBC's two-hour “Biggest Loser” (3.3/9 in 18-49, 7.9 million viewers overall) was up week to week, tying “Big Brother” as the night's top show in 18-49 rating and beating “Brother” head to head from 9 to 10. “Loser” improved by 14% over its week-two performance of last fall (2.9/8) when it aired opposite more regular firstrun programming.
