Sissy Spacek received her first Best Actress nomination for playing the troubled teenager in Brian De Palma’s 1976 Carrie.
She later recalled: “When I first went to the Oscars, I felt like an impostor, and I didn’t know anybody. You feel like a little church mouse.”
Things got better four year later, when she won the 1980 Best Actress Oscar for A Coal Miner’s Daughter.
