The gifted actor-comedian Rami Malek plays the legendary Queen singer Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody, the biopic of the singer and the classic band he fronted, which Fox will release in the awards season.
Malek learned Mercury’s stage moves–glam of the band’s early days, butch fist-pumping of the 1980s–as well sense of humor.
In one scene, per the trailer, the actor portraying drummer Roger Taylor is about to throw a bottle. “Roger, there’s only room in this band for one hysterical Queen” Malek jokes.
The trailer shows scenes from the band’s early days and its superstardom. It gets the period details– clothing, hairstyles.
“You’re a legend, Freddie,” one bandmember says. “We’re all legends,” Malek replies. We see the band recording classics, “We Will Rock You” and the film’s title song.
“How many more Galileos do you want?” Taylor yells.
