Sep 15, 2008–Ben Affleck will rewrite, star in and direct “The Town,” for Warner, an adaptation of the Chuck Hogan novel “The Prince of Thieves.”
Affleck will play a career thief who becomes smitten by the manager of a bank.
The story, which had director Adrian Lyne attached, will be based in Charlestown, Massachusetts, a gritty blue-collar Boston suburb similar to the one that Affleck captured well in his impressive directorial debut, “Gone Baby Gone.”
Affleck is doing a rewrite on the most recent draft by Peter Craig and Hogan.
Affleck next stars in Kevin Macdonald's “State of Play” for Universal, and is a member of the romantic comedy ensemble of “He's Just Not That Into You” for New Line.
