Superbad Continues to Rule Box-Office

August 25, 2007–“Superbad, the raunchy comedy, took Fridays top spot at the box office with $5.7 million from 2,948 theaters. Through its first eight days, pictures cumulative of $56.2 million is currently pacing 51% ahead of Judd Apatows 2005 late August laffer The 40 Year-Old Virgin.

Universal's The Bourne Ultimatum took the second spot at the box-office yesterday with $3.7 million off 3,679. Playing into its fourth weekend, Ultimatums current gross of $176.4 million is 32% ahead of its previous installment The Bourne Supremacy.

Lionsgates new entry War wrestled the third spot for $3.5 million off 2,277 locations.

New Lines Rush Hour 3 crossed the $100 million mark Friday, taking fourth place with $3.4 million from 3,408 venues.

Mr. Beans Holiday, the sequel to 1997s Bean, placed fifth with $3.2 million at 1,714 theaters.

Among other fresh wide releases on Friday, Weinstein Co. and MGMs The Nanny Diaries nursed $2.7 million off 2,629 locales.

The Yari Film Groups melodrama Resurrecting the Champ made $538,000 from 1,605.
