Black Label Media has acquired the rights to New York Times bestselling author Emily Giffin’s First Comes Love.
The book, which was released on June 28 by Random House, debuted at #1 on the New York Times bestseller list.
The story centers on the relationship between two sisters in the aftermath of a tragic family accident. As they separately navigate the struggles of love, marriage and children in the midst of their grief, Josie and Meredith must decide if their paths will take them even further apart or bring them closer together.
BLM is also currently in development on “Something Blue,” the sequel to Giffin’s first novel, “Something Borrowed.” The banner brought “Something Borrowed” to the big screen in 2011 as producer under the Alcon Entertainment banner. It starred Ginnifer Goodwin, Kate Hudson and John Krasinski.
It currently has the firefighter action pic “Granite Mountain” in production with Josh Brolin and Miles Teller on board to star. It also has the J.D. Salinger pic “Rebel in the Rye” starring Nicholas Hoult in production and Ryan Gosling’s “La La Land” bowing this fall.
Giffin’s books have sold a combined 11 million copies worldwide and have been translated into 34 languages.
