Couples Retreat: Reteaming Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn

Sep 19, 2008–Universal has cast Vince Vaughn, Jon Favreau, Jason Bateman and Faizon Love in the comedy “Couples Retreat,” based on Favreau's script to be directed by Peter Billingsleyy.

The story follows four couples who go to a tropical island resort. While one couple is there to work on their marriage, the others are there to play but soon discover that participation in the resort’s couples therapy is not optional.

Vaughn will produce with Scott Stuber in a co-production between his Wild West Picture Show Prods. and Stuber Prods. Victoria Vaughn and Guy Riedel exec produce.

The film is being prepped to start production in late October in Bora Bora and Los Angeles.

Vaughn pitched the idea for “Couples Retreat,” as he did the 2006 comedy “The Break-Up.” Vaughn produced that comedy with Stuber and starred in it with Favreau. Billingsley, who also had a small role, has been involved in producing and second unit direction on that picture as well as the upcoming Vaughn starrer “Four Christmases” and the Favreau-helmed “Iron Man.”

Favreau will take the acting before directing Robert Downey Jr. in the “Iron Man” sequel next year. Bateman, coming off “Hancock,” will next be seen in “State of Play” and “This Side of the Truth.” Love will next be seen in Cess Silvera's “G.E.D.” and “Days of Wrath.”

Stuber recently wrapped “Role Models,” which Universal will release in November, Joe Johnston's “The Wolf Man,” an April 2009 release, and “Traveling,” also in 2009.
