Avengers: Age of Ultron–Marvel’s 10th Movie, 10th Mega-Hit?

Marvel Studios has released a retrospective of the films that make up its first two cinematic phases on the bigscreen, starting with “Iron Man,” in 2008, and ending with “Guardians of the Galaxy,” out now.

The clip, which kicked off Marvel’s panel at Comic-Con, builds up to next summer’s “The Avengers: Age of Ultron,” which wraps up Phase 2 of movies for the company before beginning Phase 3 with “Ant-Man,” in July. It also references Thanos, the over-arching villain, now played by Josh Brolin, whose presence is felt in Marvel’s films but will become a more significant foe in future films, especially the third “Avengers.”

“Guardians,” which opened to more than $90 million at the box office this weekend, is Marvel’s 10th movie since starting to finance its own productions.

“The Avengers: Age of Ultron,” with Joss Whedon again at the helm, bows May 1, 2015.
