Why Don’t You Love Me?: Adaptation of Paul B. Rainey Graphic Novel, Starring Oscar Winner Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence to Star in Sci-Fi Comedy, ‘Why Don’t You Love Me?’ for A24

The adaptation of the Paul B. Rainey graphic novel will be written by Robert Funke.

A24 acquired the rights to Rainey’s sci-fi comedy, which follows an unhappily married couple who struggle through their personal and professional lives until they realize that their reality is not what it seems and there may be alternatives.

He released the novel in 2023 via publisher Drawn & Quarterly.

Robert Funke, the creator behind the series On Becoming a God in Central Florida, will write.

Lawrence will produce alongside Justine Ciarrocchi for Excellent Cadaver, which was behind Sony comedy No Hard Feelings.

Lawrence and A24 recently announced another project — a murder mystery based on the Real Housewives reality franchise for Apple — and worked together on the Oscar-nominated drama Causeway, in which she played a military veteran adjusting to life back home.

Lawrence has been nominated for four acting Oscars, winning lead actress for Silver Linings Playbook in 2013.
