Twin Peaks: The Entire Mystery–DVD Reunion

7hws677z7cnDirector David Lynch, the Log Lady, Laura Palmer’s mom and dad and Laura Palmer herself showed up for a reunion at Silver Lake’s Vista Theater Wednesday night for the release of “Twin Peaks — The Entire Mystery” on Blu-ray. Almost 90 minutes of outtakes and deleted scenes from 1992′s “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me” have been compiled into to nearly an entire new movie’s worth of material that answers a few questions left hanging in the feature film capper to the cult classic TV series.

Lynch introduced the footage with a signature non-sequitur poem. “Tonight I would like to speak about wood,” the director intoned, “Much happiness can be had from observing a tree.”

Many of the cast members hadn’t seen each other in years. In addition to Log Lady Catherine Coulson, Ray Wise (Leland Palmer), Grace Zabriskie (Sarah Palmer) and Sheryl Lee (Laura Palmer), other cast attending included Miguel Ferrer (Albert), Peggy Lipton (Norma), Madchen Amick (Shelly Johnson), James Marshall (James Hurley), Victor Rivers (Buck), Kimmy Robertson (Lucy Moran) and Lenny von Dohlen (Harold Smith).

“The show has been very good to me,” said Coulson. “Now a whole new generation is into it.”

“It was one of the great experiences of my life,” echoed Wise, who said he never tires of fans asking him about the series.

Also watching the never-before-revealed footage (that included much more David Bowie) — were AFI topper Bob Gazzale, who presented the screening along with CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Media Distribution, longtime fan Penny Marshall, composer Angelo Badalamenti, director Caleb Deschanel his wife Mary Jo Deschanel (Eileen Hayward) and writer-producer Robert Engels.

The show’s Dr. Jacoby Russ Tamblyn brought his daughter Amber Tamblyn to the packed afterparty at Bigfoot Lodge, a bar inspired by the woodsy lodges depicted in the series. Along with celebratory champagne, there was cherry pie, and guests could have a damn fine cup of David Lynch-brand coffee along with donuts.
