Selma: Oscar Snub

Tim Roth, who plays George Wallace in the film, was on his way to the White House screening of the film on Friday when TMZ asked if the film’s team has been in poor spirits since Oscar nominations were announced Thursday.  The film was nominated for best picture and best song, but neither lead actorDavid Oyelowo nor director Ava DuVernay earned noms.

“No,” said Roth, who earned an Oscar nomination for best supporting actor for 1995’s Rob Roy. “I feel that Oyelowo should have been nominated, and I feel that Ava should have. … But we’re moving on.”

Other Hollywood figures have been weighing in recently on Selma‘s snubs. “If I saw Ava today, I’d say, ‘You know what? F— ’em. You made a very good film, so feel good about that and start working on the next one,’ ” director Spike Lee said.

Selma focuses on Martin Luther King, Jr.‘s march from Selma to Montgomery in 1965.
