Portrait of Jason: Clarke's Seminal Film Restored

From its first test screening at New York’s Museum of Modern Art in June 1967 (attended by such luminaries as Tennessee Williams, Andy Warhol, Elia Kazan, Norman Mailer and Allen Ginsburg), PORTRAIT OF JASON was wildly anticipated and debated.

Milestone’s efforts to restore and release the film have similarly made headlines and won accolades. In late 2012, Milestone received special honors from the New York Film Critics Circle and the National Society of Film Critics for its rediscovery and restoration of the films of Shirley Clarke.

Ipon seeing the work, Ingmar Bergman said, “The most fascinating film I’ve ever seen.”
