All-American Co-Ed (1941): Oscar-Nominated Comedy at Women’s College

Inspired by the noted comedy Charlie’s Aunt, this Hal Roach production is a silly, pale imitation comedy set at a women’s college, involving rivalry with an all-male school.

The center piece of what’s clearly a low-budget B-movie is a beauty contest in which a male participates.

The good moments are provided by big-band singer Frances Langford (Song and Scoring were Oscar-nominated) brilliant movie clown, Harry Langdon.

Song: Out of the Silence, music and lyrics by Lloyd B. Norlind.
