Movie Critics: Functions

Movie critics (may) fulfill at least three functions:

1. Critics may function de facto as publicists, whether positive or negative, championing for or rallying against individual directors or styles.
2. Critics may function as ideologues for new filmmakers
3. Critics may function as theorists by elevating their reviews into a higher analytic level.
