Levy’s Anatomy: Out of the Furnace

“Out of the Furnace” marked the only new wide release the weekend of December 6, 2013 and posted a disappointing $5.3 million through Sunday.

A company spokesperson commented on the performance saying, “There’s no better swing for a studio to take than one with a daring story from a renowned director and an award-winning cast. While we had hoped it would perform better this weekend, we are all proud of this movie.”

“Out of the Furnace,” which was financed partly by Red Granite Pictures, cost $22 million to produce, according to Relativity, with nearly half of the total covered by foreign pre-sales.

Though even with a relatively modest budget, the film is a miss given that it will be hard-pressed to ignite further interest in a crowded holiday period.
