Taleb-Bendiab’s debut feature world premiered at the Flickers’ Rhode Island Film Festival where it won the Grand Prize for Best Feature.
Algeria has won the Oscar in the category once, on its first try with Costa-Gavras’ 1969 political thriller Z (which was also nominated for Best Picture).
Since then, Algeria has garnered four nominations, including three for director Rachid Bouchareb.
