Little Women: Greta (Lady Bird) Gerwig’s New Version to Star Meryl Streep and Emma Stone

After her critically acclaimed and Oscar-nominated Lady Bird, Greta Gerwig chose Little Women as her next directing project.

Oscar winners Meryl Streep and Emma Stone, Oscar nominees Sairose Ronan, and Timothee Chalamet will star in Columbia Pictures’ retelling of the American classic.

Little Women (1933): Cukor’s Second–and Still Best–Version of Popular Book

Little Women (1994): Third Hollywood Version, Directed by Gillian Armstrong and Starring Susan Sarandon and Winona Ryder

The movie marks a reunion for Gerwig, Ronan and Chalamet, who starred in 2017’s coming-of-age comedy “Lady Bird.”

The roles are unknown at this time as some castings are still being worked out.  The studio is expected to test a handful of actresses opposite Stone for the role of Beth before the July 4 holiday.

The project has been set up at Columbia Pictures for some time, with Amy Pascal to produce with Denise Di Novi and Robin Swicord.
