Bleecker Street has acquired the North American rights to Debra Granick’s drama Leave No Trace.
Granik’s 2010 film Winter’s Bone, which garnered four Oscar nominations, including best picture, put Jennifer Lawrence on the map.
The film stars Ben Foster as a father who has lived in a nature reserve outside Portland with his teenage daughter. When a chance encounter blows their cover, they’re put into the charge of social services. They then set off on a perilous journey back to the wilderness, and are forced to confront their simultaneous and contradictory wishes for community and solitude.
Debra Granik directs Leave No Trace, her first feature since 2010’s Winter’s Bone, from a script she co-wrote with Anne Rosellini.
Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie, Jeff Kober and Dale Dickey are also among the cast of the film, which debuted in the Premieres section of Sundance Film Fest.
The deal, in low-seven figures, marks the second of the Sundance fest for Bleecker Street, which also acquired Keira Knightley’s Colette with 30WEST.
Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions took all rights to the drama, which has received good reviews.
The film was produced by Anne Harrison, Linda Reisman and Anne Rosellini.
