Oscar Movies: War Against Mrs. Hadley, The (1942)

Oscar winner Fay Bainter, usually relegated to supporting parts, plays the title role of a dowager, determined that the time’s restrictions will not change her life.  However, in the course of the story, she goes through a transformation to become a patriotic citizen.

An agit-prop melodrama, directed by Harold Bucquet.

The secondary cast includes Spring Byington, Edward Arnold, Sara Algood, and Van Johnson.
