Royal Wedding 2018: About 29 Million Americans Viewed Global Media Event

About 29.2 million viewers in the U.S. tuned in to see the royal wedding of Prince Harry of Wales and American actress Meghan Markle on Saturday, according to Nielsen data.

The wedding ceremony was carried live from approximately 7:00 a.m. ET to 8:15 a.m. ET on 15 networks.

The networks carrying live coverage of the ceremony included ABC and a simulcast on Freeform, BBC America, CBS, CNN, CNNe, E!, Fox News, HLN, MSNBC, NBC, PBS, Telemundo, TLC, and Univision. For comparison, an estimated 22.8 million people watched the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in 2011.

On the three broadcast networks that carried live coverage from 6-9 a.m., NBC was number one with 6.4 million. ABC was second with 6.3 million, while CBS was third with 4.8 million.
