Fox is expected to end the 21-year work of Bill O’Reilly on the news cabler amid new and old sexual harassment allegations.
O’Reilly’s exit from the network is expected to be official later this week. The Murdochs, who control Fox News, had originally backed the top-rated host of “The O’Reilly Factor.”
But the growing number of allegations of harassment from multiple women during the past three weeks has proven untenable for the parent company 21st Century Fox.
Like the ouster last summer of Fox News chairman-CEO Roger Ailes, O’Reilly’s downfall is a milestone for the industry and a signal of the second-generation Murdoch leadership now steering Fox.
The TV veteran has long banked on a loyal following and his stature as an influential voice in national politics.
