Mary Poppins Returns: Disney’s Musical Sequel on December 25, 2018

Mary Poppins Returns hits theaters December 25, 2018.

The production still, posted on Twitter, shows Hamilton‘s Lin-Manuel Miranda and Emily Blunt on a joyride with Georgie (Joel Dawson).

Blunt takes on Julie Andrews’ renowned role as the magical nanny Poppins, with Miranda playing Poppins’ lamplighter friend, Jack.

The sequel takes place 25 years after the original Mary Poppins film, following grown children Michael (Ben Whishaw) and Jane Banks (Emily Mortimer) whom have endured their own personal loss and need their former nanny.

Eager to help the children in any way they can, Blunt’s Poppins and Manuel Miranda’s Jack join forces.

In March, Disney released a first image of the anticipated musical, a still of Blunt in character as Poppins, outside the beloved Banks family home.

Andrews, Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, Angela Lansbury and Emily Mortimer will also star in the sequel. Rob Marshall will direct the film, while Mark Platt and John DeLuca will serve as producers.

Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman will pen and compose original songs and score for the musical sequel.
