Adriene Bowles, the vet head of publicity at Focus Features, is moving to Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures.
As president of publicity, Bowles will oversee publicity and awards campaigns for Annapurna’s future releases as well as company communications.
Marc Weinstock is the new president of Annapurna Pictures, which is launching its own marketing and distribution division with the August 4 release of Kathryn Bigelow’s currently untitled film set during the Detroit riots of 1967.
Bowles will report to Weinstock and president of marketing David Kaminow.
“As Annapurna continues to grow, we truly could not be happier with the addition of Adriene. Her tenacity, leadership and forward-thinking approach make her undeniably the perfect fit to oversee all aspects of publicity for the company,” Weinstock said in announcing her appointment.
Bowles, who has been with Focus since it was created in 2002 and who has held the titles of president of worldwide publicity and executive vp of marketing since 2007, has overseen publicity for such Oscar-winning films as Dallas Buyers Club, The Pianist, Milk and Brokeback Mountain.
