Julianne Moore and Michelle Williams star in the adaptation of Brian Selznick’s book, in which the story of a young boy in the Midwest is told simultaneously with a tale about a young girl in New York from fifty years ago as they both seek the same mysterious connection.

Todd Haynes has been a regular presence in Cannes over the past two decades, ever since Velvet Goldmine premiered in competition in 1998, winning the artistic contribution kudo.

Haynes was last in Cannes in competition with the 2015 Carol, starring Oscar-nominated Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara.
