Written and directed by Matthew Weiss, Man in the Red Bandana tells a story of sacrifice and selflessness–how the actions of one man, Welles Crowther, have inspired others.
The docu centers on Welles Crowther, a 9/11 hero who was tragically killed in the lobby of the South Tower when it collapsed.
He stayed to help others and his heroics only became known 8 months after the tragedy due to an ordinary object–a red bandana.
The film re-traces the manner in which his heroics became known, as well as his last inspirational and finest hour, saving others from the upper reaches of the South Tower.
Welles’ stature and legacy throughout the US are evident in the songs, artwork, and babies named in his honor.
The final section depicts a revelation of a remarkable secret about Welles, providing an inspirational ending.
