La Cage Aux Folles: Sequel to the 1979 Smash Hit about Gay Couple Ugo Tognazzi and Michel

French director Edouard Molinaro could not resist make a quickie sequel to his 1979 international smash hit, La Cage Aux Folles, for which he was even nominated for the prestigious Best Director Oscar.

In this film, made quickly and based on a rather silly plot, Renato (Ugo Tognazz) and Albin (Michel Serrault) become innocent victims of an espionage ring, forced to get involved with killers.

It urns out, they are needed for some missing microfilm, which forces them to flee, hiding out with Renato’s family on their farm.  Once there, Albin becomes “too popular” with a group of farmhands.
