Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween–Sequel to 2015 Feature

First Man will also face competition from the sophomore frame of Warner’s A Star Is Born. Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga’s musical drama opened above expectations with $42 million. It picked up an impressive $6.8 million on Monday, and stellar word of mouth suggests a long life at the box office. A Star Is Born should earn another $20 million to $25 million this weekend.

Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween could triumph over First Man if the family film follows projections. The stand-alone sequel to 2015’s Goosebumps is hoping to earn about $15 million to $21 million when it bows in 3,400 venues.

Sony and Columbia Pictures are cautious with projections around $14 million. The original movie, also based on R.L. Stine’s popular children’s book series, overperformed with a $23 million start, and ultimately earned $150 million worldwide.

Haunted Halloween carries a smaller production budget ($35 million) than the first film ($58 million).
