Devil’s Freedom: Docu on Mexico Drug Wars Wins Top Award at 2017 Guadalajara Film Fest

Devil’s Freedom, a reflection on Mexico’s drug war victims, scored wins for best Mexican picture, Ibero-American documentary and cinematography at the 2017 Guadalajara Film Fest.

Produced by Animal de Luz Films and directed by docu filmmaker Everardo Gonzalez, Devil’s Freedom had its world premiere at the 2017 Cannes Film Fest, in May.

The film features some chilling interviews with masked victims and perpetrators of Mexico’s ongoing drug war, which has claimed more than 100,000 lives since 2006.
